Good joke 😉 i dream to see Laibach singing the American Anthem in front of Trump 😉 that would be crazy. I remember to have seen them in Brussels, on font of 75%of European employees (guests from EU) and 25% of fans who paid their ticket. And.... that magic moment when they sang Eurovision 😉 i was on the third row, surrounded by eu people in their nice smokings 😉 their face became livid when they discovered the chorus : "Europe is falling apart... ". They didn't know what to think and if they had to appraised at the end of not haha. If course I did and just that moment was one of the best I saw live !!!! who were watching in their polo necks.
So did about 50 readers
of 'When Saturday Comes' football fanzine
who were there too.
So did my best friend Steve
from the Newtown Neurotics.
He was on stage with me.
No doubt there.

as part of a Tirana art installation
in a derelict railway siding
surrounded by filthy puddles full of tadpoles

(he was recording in the basement)
and in 1986
around the time 'Nova Akropola' was released
on Cherry Red Records
I am sure I played table tennis with Laibach.
Not all of them simultaneously, of course.
Just one.
Since they are an anonymous collective
it is obviously a difficult fact to establish
but it wasn't Jani for sure.
We've talked about it.
On 12th June 2023
I did my first ever gig in Ljubljana
from where Laibach take their name
and if I was sure it had happened
and had the proof
I would have invited them to recreate it
as I did my Tirana experience
but I don't
and anyway they are an anonymous collective
and Jani was in Japan.
But I can tell you this.
I had the same feeling
of excitement
and slightly fearful curiosity
when I did the very first punk gig

how could joining that kitschy commercial Western music-commodity make sense as a critique instead of sticking to offer an alternative?
(as a comparison, back in 1987-88, Laibach didn´t COPY Queen, Opus, Beatles or Stones. as a comment or critique, "they" took charts music, mangled and transcended it. later, Kapital, Nato, Spectre didn´t just COPY Breakbeat, Techno and Dubstep respectively, but made something very unique out of it. this process now seems omitted and "copying to criticize copying" implemented as a strategy. but that´s like implementing fascism to criticise fascism 🙂 )

I videotaped a show from directly in front of the stage at the Batschkapp in Frankfurt, West Germany, on December 15, 1988. 78-minute show, poor audio quality, unfortunately.
I have the Glanz mit Laibach shoeshine kit from that tour about 20 years ago somewhere in the attic. Never used and in great condition. I will try and dig it out and post it on here.

I wasn't old enough to attend the first Laibach tour in the US, but I've been to every US tour since. Along the way, I seem to have picked up some Laibach condoms. 😂
Archive of the memory. Maybe. PLAYING TABLE TENNIS WITH LAIBACH If there is no evidence Can there be truth? Yes. Ask the religious. If there is no truth Can there be evidence? Yes. Ask the police. In 1989 I did the very first punk gig in Stalinist Albania. I know it happened. So did the Sigurimi secret police who were watching in their polo necks. So did about 50 readers of 'When Saturday Comes' football fanzine who were there too. So did my best friend Steve from the Newtown Neurotics. He was on stage with me. No doubt there. Here's a photo. Hotel Dajti. For questioning eyebrows there is plenty of evidence available that the event took place - so much so that I was invited back in 2012 to recreate it as part of a Tirana art installation in a derelict railway siding surrounded by filthy puddles full of tadpoles accompanied by the Albanian drummer who took part in the original performance. But when the only evidence is memory Things are different. Cherry Red Records 53 Kensington Gardens Square London W2 Mid 1980s. Cherry Red Records on the second floor Mute Records on the first floor Table tennis table somewhere between the two Recording studio on the ground floor. I was signed to Cherry Red so I often came in to blag other peoples' new releases and play table tennis - mostly after several hours in the pub. I played some of Depeche Mode I played a Nightingale or two I may have played Meatloaf (he was recording in the basement) and in 1986 around the time 'Nova Akropola' was released on Cherry Red Records I am sure I played table tennis with Laibach. Not all of them simultaneously, of course. Just one. Since they are an anonymous collective it is obviously a difficult fact to establish but it wasn't Jani for sure. We've talked about it. On 12th June 2023 I did my first ever gig in Ljubljana from where Laibach take their name and if I was sure it had happened and had the proof I would have invited them to recreate it as I did my Tirana experience but I don't and anyway they are an anonymous collective and Jani was in Japan. But I can tell you this. I had the same feeling of excitement and slightly fearful curiosity when I did the very first punk gig in Stalinist Albania and when I played table tennis with Laibach - if indeed I did.

Evo dva upecatljiva momenta koja se ne spominju prilikom opisa toga za L značajnog nastupa: tejp s lavežom bijesnih pasa koji je puštan na razglasu svom snagom u trajanju od cca pola sata prije nastupa i Fras (kao i ostali tada je imao samo kolektivni identitet), koji je u jednom momentu uronio ruke do lakata u zlatnu boju. Dan poslije, na Muzickoj akademiji gdje sam tada studirao, bilo je pravo opsadno stanje. Prodekan Nonveiller i Kuljeric, tadasnji direktor festivala, pozvani su na obavijesni razgovor u policiju, od cega je drugi zavrsio na rubu živcanog sloma i pobjegao na Silbu... itd. / Sretno s arhivom.

Uspoređivat Laibach i Tomphsona nema nikakvog smisla!
Jani je jednom proglasio Laibacha malim bebama u usporedbi s MPT-om – i to danas odzvanja dubokim smislom. U eri umornih duša, ljudi su siti globalističkog otrova (Soroševog multikulturalizma pod svaku cijenu), gdje se identiteti tope u lažnoj harmoniji, a istina gubi u kaosu. Zašto ljevičari više ne pune stadione ni hipodrome? Jer njihova utopija košta previše – novca, duha i hrabrosti. Zašto se u Americi ne dižu masovno protiv rata? Jer to ne služi cionističkim gospodarima sjena. Thompson danas trijumfalno pleše na grobovima ljevice, a Hrvatska aplaudira tom plesu smrti. Ne dao Bog većeg zla – zar i ti ne bi?
Ovo je tragikomicno računajući da oko 70% ljudi koji odu na Laibach u Zagrebu odu i na Thompsona. 🤣

this aticle poses 2 questions. 1. ""It speaks to an oversaturation of music in a time when there is so much of it that we can barely truly engage with it anymore."" the way to escape this oversaturation exactly was the highly interesting, individual Laibach music of the past years (Red Districts, Revisited projects, St. Joan, Alamut, Sound Of Music, WSDVolk, Zarathustra). why would exactly COPYING oversaturated paint-by-numbers Anglo-American charts (and K-) Pop contribute any value or solution to this problem? 2. "The album also criticizes "the current era of distorted reality and kitschy AI copying", and suggests that these may be "the last moments for making music"." how could joining that kitschy commercial Western music-commodity make sense as a critique instead of sticking to offer an alternative? (as a comparison, back in 1987-88, Laibach didn´t COPY Queen, Opus, Beatles or Stones. as a comment or critique, "they" took charts music, mangled and transcended it. later, Kapital, Nato, Spectre didn´t just COPY Breakbeat, Techno and Dubstep respectively, but made something very unique out of it. this process now seems omitted and "copying to criticize copying" implemented as a strategy. but that´s like implementing fascism to criticise fascism 🙂 )

Ahhh so it's "Mus-ick" - giving us the ick because of the commodity it has become through the gazillion releases on Spotify, AI and how little money you make through streaming. Laibach I'm your number one Spotify listener of 2025 (July-Dec) with around 8500+ tracks and you made x0.003 from that (so around 25 bucks). It's absurd!
