More info:

‘The Engine of Survival’, originally written by Laibach collaborator and backing vocalist Donna Marina Mårtensson and re-arranged by Laibach who renamed it ‘The Engine of Survival’ referring to the lyric (“Love is the only Engine of Survival”) in Leonard Cohen’s famous track, ‘The Future’ also reinterpreted by Laibach. The single also links back to the projects ‘Love is Still Alive’, and ‘Iron Sky – The Coming Race’ – the film soundtrack for the comic sci-fi action film of the same name.

The video for the song references a famous conceptual performance by Raša Todosijević, ‘Was ist Kunst, Marinela Koželj?’. Dragoljub “Raša” Todosijević (born 1945) is a Serbian artist from the first generation of neo-avant-garde artists of the so-called New Art Practice of the 1970s, one of the most prominent political performative artists of former Yugoslavia, alongside Marina Abramović. His conceptual works relate to rudimentary questions of history and our relationship to ideologies.
