With MUSICK, Laibach celebrates – and critically dissects – our era of warped reality and gaudy AI copycatting, delivering a set of irresistibly catchy pop songs powered by hyper-charged postmodernity.
The title carries a double meaning: exhaustion with music in an age of endless digital excess, and an obsessive devotion to it as a compulsive force that continues to drive the group. As listening itself grows increasingly unstable, MUSICK reflects this condition through constantly shifting sounds and references.Created using a maximalist approach in the group’s Ljubljana studio, the album draws on a wide spectrum of contemporary pop production—from Eurodance to K-pop—with contributions from prominent regional guest musicians and producer Richard X (known for his work with New Order, Goldfrapp, M.I.A., Sugababes, and Kelis). Intensely pop yet unmistakably itself, MUSICK is Laibach at full saturation.
